During a successful and diverse career, this Bay Area singer-guitarist has worked and taught locally toured for many years throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and the Far East. Gary has performed with national acts including The Elvin Bishop Band, Angela Strehli, Maria Muldaur, Norton Buffalo, Michael Bloomfield, Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Boz Skaggs, Steve Miller, Etta James, Sugar Pie DeSanto, Tracy Nelson, Louann Barton, Rosie Flores, Rick Danko, Lloyd Price, Carlene Carter and many others.
A skilled recording artist on guitar, bass, harmonica and vocals, Gary has recorded his own CD “Don’t Tell Me About Love.” He has also recorded albums with Strehli, Bishop, Cody, Muldaur, Delone, The New Riders, Solid Air, Hearts on Fire, Joe Goldmark, Transistor Rodeo, Fredrick Nighthawk, and worked on many commercials, songwriter / band demos and boutique productions.
Gary also operates a full time teaching practice, “Gary Vogensen Music Studios,” where he offers private instruction, seminars and group classes. “I’ve been teaching full time for close to 20 years. My life in teaching is dedicated to making the world a more musical place.”
